2006 Scholarship Winner
Since its inception in 2005, the Greater Wheatland Area Chamber of Commerce has worked diligently to promote and advance economic prosperity by encouraging tourism, strengthening community partnerships, and inspiring civic pride. Accordingly, the Chamber of Commerce strongly believes in supporting the future of our community--- our youth.
On June 8, 2006 the Chamber recognized the success achieved by Wheatland-Chili High School senior, Andrew Perkins. Throughout his years at Wheatland-Chili, Andrew demonstrated consistent commitment to his community, academic success, and rigorous plans for higher education. Andrew graduated from Wheatland-Chili with an impressive academic transcript that included numerous Advanced Placement courses, a five-unit sequence in “Project Lead the Way” (a nationally accredited pre-engineering program affiliated with R.I.T) and the Clarkson University Achievement Award for excellence in engineering.
Showing solid leadership qualities in and outside the classroom, Andrew was a team captain of the swim and cross-country teams. He was first chair in the band’s trombone section and vice president of National Honor Society.
Andrew continues to pursue his academic endeavors at the University of Buffalo in architecture. Upon completing UB’s 5-year bachelor’s program, he hopes to attend Carnegie Mellon University for his master’s degree and architecture license.
As a token of our best wishes, Andrew received a framed certificate and check for $100.
The Chamber of Commerce congratulates Andrew Perkins, recipient of the 2006 Greater Wheatland Area Chamber of Commerce scholarship.
